National Awareness & Resource Initiative for Breast Health

Why NARI was Created

For nearly two decades, the mission of the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation has remained steadfast-to improve breast health awareness, promote early detection and empower people with credible, evidence-based information.

Our Journey

THE JOURNEY TO NARI

While our mission has remained unchanged, the way we engage with the community has continuously evolved—embracing innovation and technology to make breast health education more accessible, interactive and impactful.

2007–2017

Breaking the taboo

The journey began with a mission to break the silence surrounding breast cancer and create much-needed awareness across communities.

Through Pink Ribbon Campaigns, Pink Ribbon Walks, “Paint the City Pink” initiatives and hundreds of awareness programmes across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and beyond, the Foundation encouraged open conversations about breast health and empowered women with knowledge.

The objective was simple—to encourage conversations about breast health, dispel fear and stigma, and promote the importance of early detection.

2017–2025

Embracing the digital revolution

Inspired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India’s Digital India vision, the Foundation embraced technology to make breast health information more accessible.

-> In 2017, the Foundation launched the world’s first mobile app on Breast Health (‘ABCs of Breast Health’) in English and 11 commonly spoken Indian languages, making reliable information available at the touch of a button.

-> In 2019, Augmented Reality was introduced, harnessing immersive technology to create engaging educational experiences and encourage conversations around breast health in an innovative manner.

-> In 2025, these continuing efforts to innovate and engage communities received global recognition through two Guinness World Records titles:

  • Largest Breast Cancer Awareness Lesson
  • Most Views for a Breast Cancer Awareness Lesson on YouTube in 24 Hours

These milestones strengthened our resolve to explore newer ways of reaching people, paving the way for the next chapter in our journey—artificial intelligence, immersive technology and NARI.

2026

the ERA of artificial intelligence

Building upon this legacy of innovation, we entered a new era by bringing together medicine, artificial intelligence and immersive technology.

An AI-enabled holographic breast health educator was conceived as a one-time public health initiative to spark curiosity, encourage conversations about breast health and demonstrate how emerging technologies can be harnessed responsibly for societal good.

This pioneering initiative was recognised with a third Guinness World Records title in June 2026, reaffirming the power of innovation in advancing public health awareness.

NARI

National Awareness and Resource initiative for breast health

While the hologram created awareness and curiosity, NARI was created to carry this mission forward.

NARI is an AI-enabled multilingual educational platform designed to democratise access to credible, evidence-based information on benign breast conditions and breast cancer so that geography, language and time are no longer barriers to knowledge.

A new paradigm in public health education

NARI represents a new paradigm in public health education—one in which reliable health information is available to everyone, anytime, anywhere and in their preferred language.
Its mission is to democratise access to credible, evidence-based breast health information across languages and communities, empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their breast health.

AI with a Human Purpose

Combining the AI-enabled Digital Avatar of Dr. P. Raghu Ram OBE with an evidence-based knowledge repository, NARI provides accurate, reliable information on:

  • Breast health and breast awareness
  • Benign breast conditions
  • Breast cancer
  • Breast screening and mammography
  • Early detection
  • Risk reduction and prevention
  • Treatment options
  • Myths and Facts

Artificial Intelligence is not intended to replace doctors or personal consultations.

Instead, NARI complements healthcare by providing accurate, evidence-based breast health education—helping people understand symptoms, dispel myths, recognise early warning signs, and seek timely medical advice.

Technology is the vehicle.
Empowering people is the purpose.
Knowledge reduces fear.
Early detection saves lives.
