Dr. P. Raghu Ram OBE is an internationally renowned Surgeon, Public Health Advocate, Breast Health Educator and Social Entrepreneur who has dedicated his life to improving breast health awareness, promoting early detection and empowering people with credible, evidence-based information.
Having trained and worked in the United Kingdom for ten years, he returned to India in 2007 to care for his mother, Dr Ushalakshmi, following her breast cancer diagnosis, and to serve his motherland.
Inspired by her courage and resilience, he founded the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, a registered charity established in her honour. Over the past two decades, the Foundation has spearheaded numerous pioneering initiatives aimed at breaking the taboo surrounding breast health, promoting early detection and improving access to quality breast healthcare.
A firm believer that technology should serve humanity, he has continuously embraced innovation to make breast health education more accessible—from launching the world’s first Breast Health Mobile App in English and 11 Indian languages, to pioneering Augmented Reality initiatives and, most recently, creating NARI – a first-of-its-kind AI-enabled multilingual educational platform dedicated to benign breast conditions and breast cancer.
In June 2026, his AI-enabled interactive holographic breast health awareness initiative was recognised with a Guinness World Records title. This followed two Guinness World Records titles in 2025 for landmark breast cancer awareness initiatives.
His contributions have been recognised through several prestigious national and international honours, including the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours; the Dr B.C. Roy National Award, India’s highest medical honour for a practising doctor, and Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE), one of UK’s highest civilian honours.
Through NARI, he continues his lifelong mission to democratise access to trusted, evidence-based breast health education, ensuring that geography, language and time are no longer barriers to knowledge.
Technology is not the destination. It is the vehicle. The mission remains unchanged – to empower people with knowledge, promote early detection and improve lives.
